Application context

Where this product family is used

Servo positioning

Use motor, ratio, inertia, backlash and stiffness requirements to define the axis.

Automation and indexing

Review acceleration, starts, reversal frequency, mounting and output loading.

Belt and pulley drives

FAL/FALR families provide a pulley-adapted architecture; confirm belt plane and overhung load.

Match the series architecture to the machine envelope

Use inline FAB, FAD, FAL or FPG arrangements when motor and output can remain coaxial. Use the corresponding right-angle family where the motor must turn ninety degrees relative to the output. The brochure also separates the timing-belt-pulley-adapted FAL/FALR architecture from the more conventional precision planetary families. Treat this first decision as an interface choice before comparing ratios or torque.

Use ratio and backlash as coupled selection variables

The supplied family overview shows different single-stage and two-stage ratio ranges and different backlash bands by family. Start from the required output speed, then verify that the chosen ratio is available in the required frame. For positioning systems, include coupling, mounting and load-side compliance in the lost-motion budget instead of assigning the entire accuracy target to gearbox backlash.

Release the exact model from the dimension sheet

Family photos are useful for orientation but are not manufacturing drawings. Before the machine plate, motor adapter, pulley or shaft is released, request the exact dimension sheet for the chosen frame, ratio and output form. Confirm pilots, bolt circles, shaft geometry, key or spline data, overall length and service clearance.

Verify the build with inspection evidence tied to function

The supplied brochure includes workshop and test-center imagery. For the project RFQ, translate that general process context into specific acceptance needs such as model identification, ratio, backlash, runout, dimensions or functional checks where those characteristics affect the machine. Do not rely on generic quality language when a measurable interface requirement can be stated.

Selection variables to include in the RFQ

Data group Information to provide
Motion Motor speed, required output speed, ratio, continuous/peak torque and motion profile.
Accuracy Backlash/lost-motion target, stiffness requirement, output runout and settling behavior.

Category FAQ

Which families are inline?

The supplied overview presents FAB, FAD, FAL and FPG/FPGA as inline product families; FABR, FADR and FALR are right-angle companion families.

Can I order from the family range alone?

Use the family range only to shortlist. Confirm the exact frame, ratio, interface and duty row before release.

What should accompany the RFQ?

Send motor data, output torque and speed, motion profile, accuracy target, mounting/output drawing and any external loads.
